Denise Nicole PASA Facilitator --The Parent Academy for Student Achievement - or 'PASA' - was started as a way to help parents navigate the school system. It is a 9 week program that meets for 90 minutes once a week at several schools throughout the district. In order to cater to the largest group of parents possible it is taught in the top four languages of each school. At the end of the 9 weeks, parents participate in a graduation ceremony which is symbolical of the commencement as they are now the true authors of their journey. In two years nearly 500 parents have graduated from the PASA program. PASA has transcended cultural barriers and positively impacted student achievement.
